Yep! I lived there for about 15 years. Was a fun place to grow up, but I found it to be an awful place for a 21 year old who wanted to be an artist.
it makes me laugh that someone would call an art blog pretentious... in this context that word just isnt derogatory or offensive? people would go to tumblr and blogs like this to be impressed. showcasing your talent is something to be proud of, whoever said that is pretty jealous.

How do you like having such a common name in a huge field of creatives? Is that what prompted Sir Mitchell? I mean, I must have met at least 3 Mike Mitchell's in my short life so far.
I thought about changing my name at one point actually (to Mike Tellez, which is what my Dad’s Dad’s last name should have been) for that reason alone.
I never thought I would be able to stick out as a Mike Mitchell with the amount of established MM’s (director, comedian, numerous athletes) but I have done OK so far I think. It has actually benefited me in a couple situations which have lead to great opportunities (having people contact me thinking I was one of the other MM’s)
