This is a picture of the sun using a telescope and projecting the light onto a white surface. The dark spots are sun spots. 

You can do this with binoculars too. DO NOT look through the lenses ever, you will destroy your eyeballs. Put your hand over the lens to line up the sun, then focus the lens.
