"And I’ll only feel smaller and smaller" by Daniel Danger
Giclée print mounted on board and framed
    36” x 48” (37” x 49” Framed)
    Limited edition of 25, $600
    Hand signed and numbered
Ready-to-hang, UV-protected, archivally mounted and framed

    hey all,
tomorrow morning Static Medium out of LA is releasing an edition of my "And I’ll only feel smaller and smaller" piece i did for the Mike Mitchell curated Gallery1988 show ‘SPACE’. the original sold within minutes of opening and many people have expressed interest in a large format print. well, we did it, and its absolutely huge. full size, mounted, and framed in an edition of 25. they are also doing a timed edition of a slightly smaller 30x40” version of just the print that will run through the weekend if you want to get adventurous with your own framing.

obviously this is a massive piece, as immersive as possible, and its being meticulously produced by Static Medium; so its production costs are rather high to start, making it not exactly a casual purchase. but if youre looking for a monstrous centerpiece for your house thats certainly gonna turn some heads, or just want something to get lost in, here you are… give it a good home.

My friend Judy Schmidt processes Hubble Telescope data for fun and these are some of her results. How she does it is way over my head, but I’m very appreciative of the time she takes to make each one of them. I love how she’s able to show that the universe is overrun with mind boggling scenery, and what we’re accustomed to seeing isn’t all our galaxy has to offer.

When you’re done looking at these, I highly recommend checking out her flickr, which has more images, and information to go along with it.

Three of my prints from last night’s Space show are still available.

I absolutely love the aesthetic of old 70’s action figures, so I applied it to three of my favorite space dudes. Hadfield, Tyson and Sagan.

    SPACE! The Gallery Show

Opens Friday, June 21st at 7pm at Gallery 1988: WEST in Hollywood, California.

This show is my way of perpetuating the message people like Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson have dedicated their lives to. There is also a severe lack of incredible space art, and I wanted to change that. I’m really proud of this show, and I hope you guys will have a chance to see it in person.

    "Sagan"
One of four prints I will have at SPACE! The Gallery Show which opens tomorrow night at 7pm at Gallery 1988:West in Hollywood.
I just got back from the gallery where all of the pieces are being hung and I am REALLY excited about it. So many amazing pieces and a lot of artists who are fresh to Gallery 1988. There will also be a fun little Olly Moss giveaway to the first 50 (give or take a bit, still trying to figure  that out) in line. There will also be a raffle for a space themed SUPER of which 50 are available.
It’s going to be a fun night, and a unique experience if you’re a 1988 patron. I’ll be there, along with Tony Moore, Kevin Tong, and a slew of other artists, so come hang out!

Gallery1988 (WEST) is proud to announce that this Friday, June 21st, we will open “SPACE: The Gallery Show,” a group exhibit curated by artist Mike Mitchell. The show, which will celebrate the past, present & future of space exploration and the awesomeness that is the universe, will feature over 50 amazing artists all working in many different mediums. The show will feature new artwork from G1988 regulars like Mitchell, Scott C., Andrew DeGraff, Olly Moss, N.C. Winters and Justin White, but also include new names to the gallery, like Jeffrey Brown, Dave Correia, John Martz and Emily Partridge.

This show promises to be new, unique and memorable - and people may want to get to the gallery early for “first in line giveaways.”

The opening reception is THIS FRIDAY, from 7-10 PM. The night will also be hosted by Bobak Ferdowsi, everyone’s favorite Systems Engineer!

All the work will then go online the next afternoon for viewing and purchase at gallery1988.com.

The show will run through July 20th.

You guys, I am thrilled to finally share this with you. It’s the first time I’ve ever curated a show, and it’s a theme that I’m very passionate about. Take a gander at the artist list, get yourself pumped up and come to the show, it’s going to be a stellar time.  View high resolution

Holy shit this is awesome. Since true three dimensional pictures like this will never exist in my lifetime, I will gladly settle for computer generated.

"Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow, and the day after that. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you’d be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don’t let life randomly kick you into the adult you don’t want to become."

Astronaut Chris Hadfield’s answer to the question “Any advice to a young person who wants to get into this field?”, from his spectacular reddit IAmA

This is about as good as advice can get. Really inspiring.

Galaxy M106, taken by the Hubble Telescope.
Take a minute out of your day and just stare in amazement. Try for a second to contemplate it’s vastness, at 135,000 Light Years across. Light travels at 186,000 miles or roughly 7 times around the earth PER SECOND.
If this doesn’t quench your curiosity, check out the ultra high resolution. Unreal. View high resolution
